Licensing and Training

The Missoula-Vitas Quality of Life Index is available for licensed use to provider organizations that have attended the Missoula-Vitas Quality of Life Index Implementation Training Program.
The Licensing Agreement, includes the opportunity to contribute data for bench marking and for ongoing research to refine the tool.

Training in the scoring, implementation and use of the MVQOLI in care planning, team building and as a critical quality improvement tool is available through The Hospice Institute of Florida Suncoast with the support of Ira Byock, M.D. and VITAS Healthcare Corporation.
This training is required in order to receive a license to use the MVQOLI.

The Implementation Training includes:

  • A framework for introducing a new assessment protocol in an agency.
  • Tools for leaders to use to develop a structure and process for using a quality of life assessment tool.
  • Comprehensive information about the structure, design, hypothesis, construct and validation of the MVQOLI.
  • Tools to assist in scoring, tracking and careplanning using the MVQOLI data.
  • Resources to train staff to use the MVQOLI, including training curriculum, handouts, overheads, case studies, role plays and more.
