Last Acts Partner Call Features ESRD Workgroup

The June 19, 2003, Last Acts Partner Conference Call featured Dr. Alvin H. Moss, M.D., professor of medicine at West Virginia University and chair of the Promoting Excellence in End-of-Life Care ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) Peer Workgroup, and the findings, recommendations and products of the Workgroup. There were 174 participants on the conference call.

Delivering palliative care to patients with chronic illnesses poses many challenges. For patients suffering from ESRD, issues related to advance care planning, withholding and withdrawing treatment, quality of life and patient and family communication are particularly important .The ESRD Peer Workgroup Recommendations to the Field address these difficult areas.
