Delivering bad news is a difficult task but one that doctors and others can learn to do with compassion, empathy, and respect. To help physicians develop the communication skills necessary for such conversations, many organizations sponsor provider training programs. Some Breakthrough Series teams took this a step further by training community representatives to talk with patients and families.
