Background

In this recording Ram Karan Sharma chants the complete Sanskrit text of the Śiva Sahasranāma as given in chapter 17 of the Anuśāsana Parvan (Book 13) of the Mahābhārata. There are eight different versions of the Śiva Sahasranāma, including two in the Mahābhārata. For details refer to Dr. Sharma's book Śivasahasranāmāṣṭakam. An English translation by Swami Chidbhavananda is titled Śiva Sahasranāma Stotram.
